The series of CSCL-star-type of that also CSCL-Star class, belongs to the Group of ultra large container ships (ULCS)

The lead ship CSCL star was released on January 15, 2011, as the first unit of a roller coaster series of ships on voyages, the crowning of the CSCL Neptune, which was delivered on May 22, 2012. Customer was the Chinese shipping company of CSCL. The ships were built at the shipyard Samsung heavy industries in Geoje, South Korea. The ships will be deployed to the China shipping-AEX-7-container service between the far East and Europe. The CSCL star was the largest container ship made up in Hamburg at their first attempt.

The double-hulled vessels have the deckhouse, differently arranged the majority of conventional container ships far forward, allowing for an improved visibility beam and therefore higher front deck loading. The main drive of the ships by a heavy fuel oil fired, charged two stroke crosshead engine of type is MAN B & W 12K98MC-C7 12 cylinders with a capacity of 72.240 kW, which was built by the Korean manufacturer Doosan in license. The bore of the engine is 98 cm, the hub 240 cm. Two auxiliary diesel generators with each 3500 are used for generating electricity kVA and two auxiliary diesel generators with each 4750 kW as well as a port / emergency generator with 375 kVA.

The cargo holds of the ships of the CSCL-star-type are sealed with pontoon hatch covers. The ships have a capacity 13,300 TEU, the shipping company but a maximum capacity of 14.074. With a homogeneous loading of 14-ton, 20-foot containers, the transport of up to 10,500 TEU is possible. 800 refrigerated containers can be connected. The arrival and berthing will be supported by two bow thrusters.
