Boxships Conmar Avenue and Maersk Kalmar collided on outer Weser
Boxships Conmar Avenue and Maersk Kalmar collided on outer Weser, Germany, at around 16:00 LT May 7 13. Several containers from Conmar Avenue fell overboard from the jolt, vessel ran aground. Maersk Kalmar proceeded to Bremerhaven and docked there, Conmar Avenue was refloated at around 18:30 with the help of the tugs, and was taken to Bremerhaven. No spill reported. Containers drifted on sandy bank and don’t pose a threat to navigation. Traffic on the fairway was closed for some time after the accident.
