Fire in containers on board of mega-boxship Eugen Maersk, Gulf of Aden

Fire erupted in three containers on board of mega-boxship Eugen Maersk on June 18 en route from Jebel Ali to Port Said, in Gulf of Aden, reported Maritime Danmark. The crew localized the fire preventing its’ spreading, vessel meanwhile, steamed to Djibouti and anchored there at 12:40 LT June 19. Firefighting tug assisted the crew, and the fire was reported extinguished later that day. According to manifest, the three containers which suffered fire were loaded with household non-hazardous utensils. Three damaged or destroyed containers are to be offloaded in Djibouti. As of morning June 21 vessel is in the same position in Djibouti, some 1-2 days late on its’ service schedule.
