Fire on boxship Godafoss, northern Atlantic
Fire started early in the morning Nov 11 13 on board of boxship Godafoss, reportedly in a funnel. Vessel issued distress signal at around 0500 Reykjavik time. Vessel was some 70 nautical miles west of Faroe islands, en route to Reykjavik, Iceland. Iceland Coast Guard sent a plane, helicopter and Coast Guard ship Thor, but luckily, vessel’s crew managed to extinguish fire by own means. It is understood, that vessel is continuing her voyage, ETA Nov 12.
