CMA CGM Closes its East Coast South America – West Africa Service SAMWAF

CMA CGM closes its East Coast South America – West Coast Africa service SAMWAF by the end of this month. The service, which was running since October 2013, deployed 3 vessels on a fortnightly frequency and a 42 day-rotation. It had an average weekly service capacity of 850 TEU and Maersk was taking slots on the service, branding it WAFEX.

Consequently CMA CGM takes slots on the Niledutch East Coast South America – West Africa service SAMWAF to replace its own closed service. The French carrier already used to take slots on the service until August 2013 and will now be the second slot partner on SAMWAF, next to Hamburg Süd (SABR). The service deploys 4 vessels on a fortnightly frequency and a 56 day- rotation. Its average weekly service capacity is 1,280 TEU. CMA CGM continues branding the service SAMWAF and starts slotting with the vessel NILEDUTCH ZEBRA on 26th May from Buenos Aires.
