JEAN NICOLI had to call Toulon in emergency after being hit by huge wave

Ferry JEAN NICOLI left Marseille in the afternoon Mar 6, bound for Ajaccio, Corsica. Vessel encountered rough weather and was hit by some 10-meter wave 20 nm off Hyeres islands, south of Toulon. Navigational and control equipment were partially damaged, vessel interrupted voyage and headed for Toulon, arriving there early in the morning Mar 7. Communications on board between bridge, engine and deck had to be carried out by VHF hand radios. Vessel reportedly, will leave Toulon on Mar 8 after completing repairs.
