THORCO’s ship aground on Atoll in French Polynesia waters

General cargo ship THORCO LINEAGE ran aground on northern outline of Raroia Atoll, Frencho Polynesia, in position 15 56S 142 19W, in the morning Jun 24, while en route from Baltimore USA to Hobart Australia. No reports on oil leaks or water ingress, 18 crew remain on board. Understood no salvage plan yet, no salvors nominated. According to ship’s track, she reduced speed when sailing into Archipelago, tried to clear Raroia, but for reason unknown, ran straight into Atoll northern boundary.
