THORCO LINEAGE under tow Update
Jun 29: THORCO LINEAGE was taken on tow by tug AITO NUI (IMO 9245445)at around 0800 UTC Jun 29, to be towed to Papeete, ETA Jul 4.
Jun 29: General cargo ship THORCO LINEAGE was refloated on Jun 27 by French Navy auxiliary ship BOUGANVILLE, towed off the coast and left drifting after tow line snapped, with BOUGANVILLE standing by. The ship is drifting in southwest direction parallel to Raroia Atoll northwest rim. Tug AITO NUI (IMO 9245445) sailed from Papeete on Jun 27 with salvors team on board, she’s to tow THORCO LINEAGE to yet unknown port. As of 0700 UTC Jun 29, situation remained unchanged – THORCO LINEAGE still adrift, BOUGANVILLE nearby monitoring situation, and AITO NUI steaming towards disabled freighter. Reportedly, ship’s underwater hull was damaged but not breached. The ship is disabled because her propeller was damaged by grounding.
