Containers lost by MAERSK Neopanamax North Pacific UPDATE turned back

Feb 18 UPDATE: Confirmed it’s MAERSK EINDHOVEN, confirmed containers were lost after the ship sailed into rough Pacific out of Hokkaido shelter. MAERSK doesn’t report number of lost containers yet (if will report at all). Situation on board obviously, deteriorated – MAERSK EINDHOVEN turned back early Feb 18 and as of 0300 UTC Feb 18, was sailing in opposite direction at some 17 knots speed – either to avoid further losses and evade unfavorable wind and sea, or having to seek for nearest port/shelter. Containers loss may be a major one.
Feb 17: Many containers adrift in North Pacific E of Kuril islands since afternoon Feb 16 UTC, understood lost by MAERSK EINDHOVEN, see track. She’s en route from Xiamen to US port, most probably Los Angeles, ETA Mar 1. Ship’s ID not yet confirmed.
