Container ship lost containers in North sea off Netherlands UPDATE Photo
Container ship BALTIC TERN, caught in rough weather, in the morning Apr 7 lost 5 containers overboard in North sea some 15 nm north of Ameland island, West Frisian Islands, Netherlands. After the loss, the ship reduced speed and since then was proceeding in northern direction, probably to avoid more losses and container stacks collapse. The ship is en route from S-Petersburg to Rotterdam, ETA Apr 7. Three containers are loaded with merchandise, one’s empty, another one is with acetone. Containers said to be drifting in southeast direction, so they may end up on West Frisian island coast.
UPDATE: One lost container with acetone is a container tank. Containers on upper deck in bow section collapsed, several as can be seen on photo, are damaged.
