Mohammed Aisha had been recognized by an Egyptian court as "legal guardian" of the MV Aman, abandoned in the Suez Canal by its owner who did not have the means to enforce it. The International Labor Organization denounces 250 similar cases worldwide

His odyssey began in July 2017, when the 4,000-ton motor ship Aman was seized in the port of Adabiya, at the northern end of the Suez Canal, because it had neither documents nor security systems in order.
