Murmansk-bound disabled bulk carrier on tow, Norwegian sea

Bulk carrier MELINDA suffered steering failure and started to drift 40 nm north of Lofoten, Norway, Norwegian sea, at around 1400 UTC Jan 17, being en route from Riga Latvia to Murmansk, Russia. Patrol ship NOCGV HARSTAD (IMO 9312107) responded and took disabled ship, drifting towards Lofoten coast, at around 0030 UTC Jan 18, when she was already some 15 nm off the coastline. As of 0320 UTC Jan 18, convoy was moving in NE direction, NOCGV HARSTAD soon to be replaced with tug BORG PARAT.
