Norwegian coaster heavily listed, abandoned, in Kattegat, Denmark
Norwegian coaster BJUGNFJORD developed heavy list in Kattegat in Danish waters after 2000 UTC Jan 20, in rough weather, some 10 nm north of northern coast of Zealand island, Denmark, while en route from Copenhagen to Randers. The ship issued distress signal, requesting evacuation. Helicopter was scrambled, all 5 crew were airlifted to safety, 2 were hoisted from the ship and 3 from a lifeboat. Cause of list unknown, but probably she was disabled prior to developing list, and suffered ensuing cargo shift, causing the list, though it’s a speculation so far, based on ship’s track. Last AIS signal dated 2130 UTC Jan 20. Danish and Swedish Navy ships are monitoring drifting BJUGNFJORD.
