Container ship emergency anchoring in Scheldt mouth, medevac, Netherlands
Container ship POLAR ECUADOR requested medical assistance and had to anchor in front of Vlissingen, Scheldt mouth, Netherlands, in the morning Feb 5, while sailing towards port of destination Antwerp, on arrival from Colon, Panama. Injured crew was airlifted by helicopter and transferred to hospital, condition unknown. The ship anchored at 0840 UTC, resumed moving at 1320 UTC. It is not known if crew’s injure and emergency anchoring were caused by some kind of an accident, and if it is, what is the character of accident. As of 1420 UTC, the ship was sailing upstream, already passing Terneuzen.
