Virgin Voyages Inaugurate the Long-Awaited Terminal V in Port Miami

Virgin Voyages opened a new Terminal on Dodge Island, Miami, on February 15th. Virgin Voyages' owner, Sir Richard Branson, was accompanied by its CEO Tom McAlpin and Miami Dade County Mayor Daniella Lavine Cava in the inauguration ceremony and the ribbon cutting.

The vibrant and picturesque terminal has excellent views of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami. It is a 132,000 square foot facility located on Dodge Island's northwest corner. The terminal has unique architecture that seeks to capture the ambiance of a palm grove. The roof has angular cutouts that resemble a palm canopy in which the light is filtered through and surrounded by over 1000 palm trees. Other than the aesthetics, the construction materials, the air conditioning, and the electrical systems were selected to minimize their impact on the environment. This has made the new terminal the only LEED Gold-certified building in port Miami.

The street address for the terminal was renamed 718 N Cruise Boulevard in celebration of Richard Branson's birthday of July 18th. This terminal will be the home port for Virgin Voyages' SCARLET LADY. During the winter of 2022, an additional cruise ship, the VAILANT LADY, plans to sail the Caribbean with this terminal as its home port.
