Japanese freighter capsized off Honshu coast, crew rescued VIDEO

General cargo ship MEISEN 2 developed heavy starboard list and issued distress signal at around 0330 Tokyo time May 14 in Chiba Prefecture waters, Honshu eastern coast, south of Tokyo. The ship was en route from Hitachinaka, sailing in SW direction. 5 crew went into life raft and were rescued, 2 of them suffered injures, MEISEN 2 capsized and rested starboard on bottom, judging from video. The ship probably, was intentionally grounded in shallow waters close to shore, to avoid sinking.
