Russian trawler burned out off Vladivostok, Captain hospitalized

Fire erupted in engine room of trawler IKLARAND in Amurskiy Bay, Vladivostok, Russia, Japan sea, at around 0040 LT (UTC +10) Jun 9. Fire engulfed most of the ship, all 17 crew had to be evacuated, all are safe except Captain, who was hospitalized with head injury, caused by fall. Salvage ships and boats were deployed in firefighting, ship’s AIS is off, by 2130 LT there was only one SAR ship at accident site, ROSTOV VELIKIY, probably monitoring situation. From the looks of IKLARAND, she’s severely damaged and might sink. If she doesn’t sink, she will be, most probably, scrapped, considering damages extent and her age, she’s 43-year old.
